2016 Public Outreach Award

Russell Media Consultants was awarded the 2016 Public Outreach Award from the Mississippi Chapter of the American Planning Association. We were hired to direct and produce a short documentary video for public engagement outreach for the City of Hattiesburg, MS Municipal Planning Organization.

Russell Media CEO Becky Russell received the Associated Press Radio-Television Award “For Outstanding Broadcast Journalism In Investigative Reporting” seen here under her screen name “Rebecca Todd”.

Nationally Recognized

Broadcast journalists, Richard and Becky Russell, have won numerous awards from the Associated Press, including “Investigative Reporting”, “Best Newscast” and “Best Spot News Coverage”.

As an Emmy winning producer, Richard was known in the industry as one who pushed the limits of resources and personnel to bring the best news product to his viewers.

This standard of excellence continued with Russell Media Consultants.

In 2014, Russell earned national recognition for her innovative communication and public engagement strategy utilized by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Lawrence Ragan Communications Inc., a national expert and leading publisher of corporate communications, honored Russell Media Consultants with the Regan and PR Daily’s 2014 Ace Award.

Judges said, “Russell Media effectively countered the Public Relations giants of BP and the Halliburton Corporation by implementing a comprehensive communication strategy that raised public awareness and involvement by the launching of the interactive website www.restore.ms, and the texting and social media campaign of “Making Mississippi Whole”.
